Is it possible that my Lamictal/Zoloft cocktail is wearing off? Feeling absolutely exhausted and numb for probably a month now. Why do people who are medicated still fall into these slumps? How do I get out?

Feeling absolutely exhausted and numb for probably a month now. Why do people who are medicated still fall into these slumps? How do I get out? :) Hi SS: When was the last time you had your med's adjusted. What's the dose of each Med. I have been on Lamitcal since 2000. I have had to adjust it every year. I was on the max of Lamitcal 600mg. I am now on 350. I take 250 in am 150 pm. I had the dose lowered in the summer becasue I have SAD and the winter months it's upped. I also was put on Wellbutrin that made me irratable. I am now just on Lamitical and Zoloft. Just started Zoloft i am on losest does. After all that rambaling the answer is you should ask to have the med's adjusted. Hope that helps Jeane ssforcey 01-22-2008, 08:15 AM Thank you so much for your reply, it has helped alot. I am on only 100mg of Lamictal and 50mg of Zoloft. I know, low doses but has worked. Wondering if life in general has affected where I'm at mentally. Sick, far away father and an annoying (at times) ex-husband. I've only been on the Lamictal for about 10 months and its has worked wonders for me. Which do you think needs to be increased? The Zoloft or the Lamictal? My doctor is pretty liberal in the sense that he'll do what I ask him to do. Thanks again. I really appreciate being able to ask the experts! Sharon bellablue2 01-22-2008, 01:27 PM :wave:Hi Sharon: I know that I can tell when I ned to increase my lamitcal. I have a real hard time in the winter, so it's gets adjusted then I also have to add Anti depresive. I am now on Lamitcal and Zoloft. When ever my Lamitcal get adjusted it is amazing my mind is great. I don't really see much of a differance with the anti-depressive meds. I have been on many of them. My prob was on was on the higest dose of Lamitcal. So in the summer I lower it so in the winter I can bring it up again. AND you lifestyle does have an effect:mad: it is very hard for a person with Bi-polar to interact with people some times. I too have the same problems you mentioned. When your good with the med's little things don't bother you. It's when you need to adjust them that's when you can tell that something is out of wack. Talk again soon. Jeane ssforcey 01-22-2008, 04:04 PM You're help has been great! I guess I'll talk to him and ask him to up the Lamictal a bit. Would upping it by 25mg's do anything at all or should we up by 50mg? bellablue2 01-23-2008, 03:51 PM You're help has been great! I guess I'll talk to him and ask him to up the Lamictal a bit. Would upping it by 25mg's do anything at all or should we up by 50mg? :wave:Hey Sharon: I had mine just upped by 50, but you should ask your Doc. It has really helped me I am a happy person again. Well as happy as one can be expected to be. Let me know what happens. PS I saw a difference in about a week. Hang in there girl!! Jeane ssforcey 01-23-2008, 05:23 PM I've got to go down to Florida this weekend so I think i'll wait until after I get back. Probably not the best time to change my meds. LOL. I've been fairly decent behaving anyway. I really got used to feeling "normal" again and I want that back!!! IceBoy 01-24-2008, 01:29 AM I´m starting on Lamictal and my doc wants me to keep taking Zoloft with it. However I have been reading about mixing meds (for mood and depression) and from the information it seems Venlafaxine (Effexor) is the best anti-depressant to be on when its bipolar. The reason why I say this is because it effects both serotonin and norepinephrine levels while most other brands just effect one (usually just serotonin). Also it can limit anxiety and obsessive behavior so some people could take less medicine on it. Also a big plus is that you should see results in just 2-3 weeks. So I´m calling my doc and asking him if I can switch. I just started on Lamictal but I really need a change NOW because I've been very depressed lately and the Lamictal takes forever to respond. ssforcey 01-24-2008, 05:05 AM How long have you been on Zoloft? Yeah I don't know much about Effexor but I've REALLY enjoyed and benefitted from the Lamictal and Zoloft. Not only has it made me feel better it's made me feel GREAT! And that's a huge improvement from my days of major anxiety, aggitation and overall feeling crappy. I'm guessing I just need to readjust right now and hopefully I'll be back to feeling "normal" again. Good luck to you. |
