I started taking Cymbalta on Friday the 18th and have had three doses, one capsule taken at 8PM. I have noticed that about 45 mins to an hour after each does my face and upper chest area becomes very flushed and a light sweat followed by a mild headache which last about 30 mins. This has happened with each does and I'm kind of concerned whether to take the next schedule does tonight. Any thought on the matter would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Woody

I've been on it (30mg every morning) for 2 wks now. Only thing I noticed was some headaches early on, like in the first 3-5 days. But I don't seem to be having any more problems with that. If I were you, I'd call the dr or your pharmacy to check with them.

Good luck~

Having had a lot of experience with Cymbalta, headache is very common during the first few days of therapy or dosage increases. However the flushing and sweating could be a problem that I am not familiar with.
As a caution I would call your doctor and leave a message for your doctor about your concerns. Cymbalta is a drug that works on both seritonin and norepinephrine receptor sites in the body. As a results it affects also receptors sites of these two neurotransmitter's receptors at sites all over the body and not just the brain, so there are many resulting side affects that one can display.

Just to be safe give your doc a ring today and check.

Hi Woody and welcome here!!!

I have been on Cymbalta for over a year now and all the symptoms that I had were in the first 2 weeks to 30 days af starting it. I do not remember the face flushing but sometimes I do have increased sweating but I have noticed this mainly at night when I tiake my daily dose of 60 mg's.

I some how got a more detailed list of side effects from somewhere and there or more side effects than just the ones you pharmacy may tell you of.

I would call my doc asap and explain just to see what they say and you may also want to go to the Lilly website. They make Cymbalta and there is so much info on there site about it.

Good look and keep us posted.

I have to tell you that this is one of the side effects that I got on Cymbalta as well. It was very annoying because I would take a dose and then 45 minutes to 1 hour later my face would flush and I would start sweating profusely. My PM doc said several other patients experienced the same thing. That is not the reason I stopped taking it but it was rather annoying. This is definitely a side effect of the Cymbalta. I can't tell you if it will diminish in time or not. You are the only one that can decide if this is a side effect you can put up with. Good luck.

I thank all of you for your thoughts on the subject. I have already contacted my pharmacist and she said that the headache is not uncommon when first taking Cymbalta. However, the sweating and flashiness could be a reaction and to contact my PM doc. I called him and of course he was not in today so I got to talk to his PA and she said do not take another does and to call tomorrow first thing AM. I guess she is telling me to call tomoorw to be cautious.

Took 30mg and got nauseated for 5 minutes. I'd rather feel angry than nauseous.
