Are you with a pain managment doctor? It is a little strange that anyone would ignore the pain and treat depression. Cymbalta might help with nerve pain but in my opinion you need more than that.

My family dr gave me 2 different depression meds (cymbalta, wellbutrin) when I told him I was depressed because I was in constant back pain. But, he said he doesn't prescribe pain meds!! ***!

Cymbalta is used for nerve pain and also helps with depression. The therapeutic dose is 60 mg - 120 mg. Any dose over 120mg will create undesirable side effects. I have heard of people on doses up to 240mg. But, you should start to see pain relief on 60mg. If you do then you can try to move up to 120mg. Let us know how it goes.
