I know there is no typical number of days after you stop clomid before you ovulate, but I finished my dose of clomid on saturday and am wondering when I should start using a opk? This is my first time on clomid and have so many questions and hope that someone can help and support me through this.

Welcome & good luck!! What days did you take the clomid? Some take it days 3 - 7 and some take it days 5 - 9. You really could O at any time. I usually O late (between day 18 and 20), but I've heard of other ladies O'ing as early as day 11. I would probably start w/ the OPK's on day 11 of my cycle just to make sure I didn't miss it.

Hi Jenny and Welcome to the boards. I took clomid day 3-7 and I usally O'ed late as well anywhere from 18-22 days. But I have also heard of ladies who have O'ed early.

you need to wait at least 3 days after your last clomid pill to start OPKing because if not you will get a false positive and you'll think you're O'ing and you probably aren't....but usually I think the average is 5-7 days after the last pill my last cycle on clomid I took 150mg Cd 3-9 and started opking CD 12 and got my + OPK on CD 15 and BFP 11 DPO

I agree with everyone else - you shouldn't start the OPKs too early. My RE's office has you start the OPK on day 13, and I'd always get the '+' on day 17, but I'd say you could start around day 11.

Thanks everyone. I took the clomid days 5-9 and I am now at day 12. I took an OPK and it is negative... I go for b/w on day 25 and then my dr. told me to take a pregnancy test 7 days later..... I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up that it will work for me on the first round.

Try not to get your hopes up you can be one of the lucky ones who gets pregnant on her first shot it does happen.I hope you do please keep us posted.GOOD LUCK.

I take my Clomid days 2-6, and last cycle I got my + opk on the evening of CD 11, IUI on CD 12. I guess I'm one of the early ones, my cycle is typically just short of 28 days.

Hi Jenny,

My RE always says that each cycle is totally independent of the others, so there is no reason that you should think that it wouldn't happen on try # 1. I really hope this cycle is it!!!

Another quick question, are there any "signs" that ovulation may be coming? I have been feeling some cramps, but not sure if that is a sign of anything....

In my very, very little experience with ovulating, signs were liek this... breasts aching and a twinge in the uterus/ovary region, and changing CM. Like for example, circle marks on your panties is fertile, while streak/rectanlges aren't. Um... egg white cm is best, but if you dont make that, thick white lotion-y type Cm is good too.

I don't really have any signs that ovulation is coming - except since we've been at the RE's office, I've been really analyzing symptoms -- all I notice are a few little twinges. I have never really seen any CM or anything like that.

What I've learned is that everyone is so different!

Well CD15 and still negative OPK result...ugh.........

Everyone is different, with different cycle lengths. I never got a positive before CD17 (and my cycle is very regular at 28 days). So, hang in there!

I'm not sensitive to my ovulation. I don't notice any signs. However, my very fertile BF says she knows the moment she ovulates every month. Not sure if her very-fertile-self has anything to do with it, but I do agree that each cycle, and each women is different. I always just thought she was pulling my leg, telling me that she could "feel" it. I never felt ANYTHING!

Ok everyone, day 18 still nothing.... guess I am one of many that will have to take another cycle of clomid. Since it doesn't seem to work at 50mg, do you all think my dr. will up it to 100, or do they typically do 50 mg again? Has anyone been where I am at? How do you deal with it??????:(:(

Jenny I once O'ed on cd20 of taking clomid. So hang in there it can still happen.

I also O'd on CD 20 w/ clomid. Don't give up yet. If it does turn out that you don't O this cycle, your dr may increase the dosage. All dr's are different, so I can't say what yours will do, but many increase the dosage if you don't respond.

Hi Jenny,

I know exactly what you are feeling right now. I am currently on CD 10 of my 4th round of clomid. My doctor also has me taking it on days 5-9. My first cycle was unsuccessful. I was on 50 mg, and never showed a positive on the OPK. The next cycle he upped me to 100 mg. I had a positive test but didn't get pregnant. I have regularly showed a positive on day 19. With this cycle, he has upped me once again to 125mg. My advice, don't get upset if you don't get a positive this round. It could be a number of things such as not a strong enough dose for your body to respond, or it being a new drug, your body is taking a little longer to respond. Just tell yourself that if the doctor ups the dose, it should make you that much more fertile for the next cycle. Best of luck! :angel:

glad you saw a smiley face. how long are your cycles? if you have long cycles, you can O later. I have short cycles (25 days) so I O earlier, around CD 12-14.

Every body is diff and each month may differ slightly. I was only ever on 50mg of Clomid, but def could tell I was nearing O. My CM would increase, when I wiped I would see really thick, stretchy clear fluid. It is amazing how far that stuff can stretch and also felt a bit bloated and kind of achy. Sometimes, I would feel a twinge on one side or the other. When I noticed the egg white CM, I would get a + OVP that day or the next morning.

Also, my libido would def increase from the clomid right around O.

Lots of luck and enjoy your BD. TMI warning, but my DH always noticed the increase in CM too while we were BD.

I understand not wanting to get your hopes up sweetie but you can stay positive.Positive thinking is good and keeping a nice stressfree enviroment for your embie to implant is also a good idea.So try to stay calm and stressfree I know its easier said then done but try to.We will all be praying for you and know we are here for you.So you are officially in your 2ww hope it flies by and I also hope there is a BFP at the end waiting for you.Take care.

I am going to try my best to stay positive!!!! My doctor scheduled me for a blood test on Monday, since that would be day 25. I guess I still need to have that done, and pray that in 2 weeks a BFP.....
