How long after an IUI do you get a BETA? This is my first month with pregesterone so I can't rely on AF to tell me yes or know. The nurse left me a message to get it done on 1/28 which would be 9 days after, the doctor told me during the IUI to get it done 2/1 so I am now waiting for them to call back. Thanks

All Dr's are different. Some will make you wait 14 days, some Dr's will do it at 10 days, but I have not heard of 9 days. My Dr does 14 days.

I know this does not completley answer your question, but I hope it helps.

Hmmm - my office also does 14 days after the last IUI. I'm sure all offices are different, 9 days does sound early to me, though. I know that doesn't answer your question completely either. I'll be interested to hear what they say when they call you back!

Hmm...I've never one IUI so I don't knwo what the standard is. But by doing a quick search and from what I knwo here, it seems like 10-14 days is standard. I didn't read anyhitng about 9 days, to be honest. I am really interested to hear what they say when they call back!

Hey Jennifer, Just wanted to tell you that my office also did beta 14 days after IUI. It can seem like the longest 14 days of your life, but it'll be worth the wait when you see that BFP! Good luck to you!!!!

I love the RE practice I go to but if there is one thing that drives me crazy, no one ever tells you the same information. When I had the IUI the Dr. said "Pregnancy test in two weeks" which would be 2/1. I asked about a progesterone test because I had it one week after on the last two IUI's. She said it wasn't really necessary because I will be taking progesterone but they will check that when I get my BETA. So the nurse called me yesterday to say the bloodwork they took the day of the IUI did show it was timed right (Yeah!) and to come on on the 28th for the Beta. When I spoke to her this moring she tells me to come on for 2 seperate tests, one on the 25th for the progesterone and one on the 31st for BETA. If I went on the 1st, I would have to wait all weekend for the results.

I get mixed and different answers from my RE office too. I am on my 2ww for my 4th IUI and I have never had a beta? What is it? For the past 3 failed IUI, I called the office when I got my p to schedule for the next cycle. Does that sound right? I'm actually starting to question them b/c I have read that some women still get their period when they are pg. very confused...

I never had a beta either but this cycle I am on progesterone (why? I still don't know because my b/w last month showed it was okay, maybe they just want extra insurance) and my dr. said that Progesterone could delay AF so they check for you. Good luck!

Jennifer,

I'm glad they picked a day for your beta, but you are right - it's so frustrating how different people in the same office will tell you two different things! At least you will not have to wait over the weekend for the results - that's good news!!!

Want2beamama - That is right -- to call the office on day 1 of your period to start scheduling the next cycle. Beta is when they take blood to test for beta-hcg (the pregnancy hormone - the same hormone that the HPTs test for in the urine). When you call for day one of your cycle, does your office have you come in on day 3 for b/w? Mine will usually do a beta test that day just to ensure that you're not having something other than a period.

Hi ladies,

I have been on progesterone since I started IUI even thou my linings were good. They say that it will give extra protection on a fertilized egg.
You will not typically have AF while on progesterone so my RE always ask for beta after 14 days regardless the result of HPT. After stopping progesterone, AF will come in 2-3 days.
