Hi everyone. I am 24 years old and have been having a lot of symptoms lately that I have never had. My dr can not figure out what is wrong with me. He is saying it may be fibromyalgia but not sure. For the past few months I have been having deep bone pain. It is started in my left femur and was so bad it would sometimes wake me up at night. Next it started getting bad in my left shin. I soon started having it in my left outer forearm. Now I mostly feel it in my right outer forearm but have been occassionally been getting pain in the tops of my feet and both knees. I have been extremely tired lately which is not like me. My face always looks so pale. Last I was checked I didnt have anemia. My dr had me get a full body bone scan and it was pretty normal. I have 3 little babies and I can not stand not knowing. What do you guys think? Should I be concerned that this could be leukemia?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

How sad it is that nobody has bothered to respond to you. I can tell you are confused and want answers. However, nobody here can diagnose what you have; that must be left to a medical doctor.

I think that is one of the constraining factors for many folks here. They could post, "Yeah, I had the same symptoms and it turned out to be leukemia." However, nobody wants to hit your panic button - or any button for that matter - for you.

Let me try to help you without dispensing medical advice. I hope you are not discouraged by the lack of responses. Frankly, I don't understand it because you sound like a human being crying out for help as much as for answers.

You could type in the search engine "bone pain" and come up with all sorts of websites. However, I would suggest that rather than scaring yourself to death (which is what I did for several months all by myself!) is that you take matters into your own hands.

Nowadays, a proactive patient is one who finds a doctor with whom they are comfortable, asks hard questions, and presses for hard answers. I quit fooling around with the small-town docs here in Arizona and went straight up to the Mayo Clinic Hospital. I knew something was wrong and I WANTED ANSWERS NOW. I didn't like the answers I got, but that's life.

I think we all have certain gut-instincts that kick in when we know that something is really going bonkers in our bodies. My suggestion: find a top-notch hematologist.

Important questions: Do you have leave you could take from your job? Do you have health insurance? Here is the name of a hospital that is also a well-recognized center for research in hematology:

Lutheran General Hopsital Cancer Center, Park Ridge, IL.

I am NOT saying you have cancer; however, this is a hospital that does research that can determine what it is you have. It may very well be that you do not have anything that has to do with your blood. It could be bone or joint related.

At least this might be a starting point for you. At least it doesn't hurt to call and talk to an intake counselor. I wish you success in your pursuit.

Thank you so much for your respone. It is nice to have someone to listen to my concerns. I am hoping to get into the dr tomorrow. I am seeing a rheumatologist. My appt wasnt supposed to be until feb 8th but they had a cancellation so that is good news! Anyhow, you can be honest with me. Did you have bone pain? I really need to know this. Would it be normal to have leukemia with bone pain without a lot of the other symptoms. I guess I am just wondering if anyone ONLY had bone pain when they found out? Thank you and please keep posting...I really need to learn more about this.

Have you been tested for Lyme disease? I also would suggest getting on the internet and look up bone pain for other help.

Have you had your Vitamin B12, Ferritin and Vitamin D tested? Insufficient levels can cause bone pain among other things. How about your thyroid? There are MANY different causes for bone pain and many doctors don't check the levels of vitamins and minerals in your body. Good luck at the rheumatologist and ask him to check those levels. Let us know. Hoppy;)
