Today I had an ACTH stim test (standard 250mcg dose) to investigate low cortisol (and lower normal acth = 11) - for possible secondary AI. I did not feel anything from the injection initally, but now some five hours later, I have palpitations and some "flip flop" feelings in my chest. I also feel heavy-headed (could be elevated bp?)and have a bit of a headache. Still dizzy as usually, and maybe more pronouced. Some anxiety too - tho it is ever present of late due to my endo discontinuing my thyorid meds.

I did not expect to feel anything as my endo said nothing and all I read prior to it indicated that it was not a concern. I have looked on the web for after-effects to the test, but found really none. It seems most people don't feel anything (?).

My question is to those who have had the stim, have you felt anything similar. Are there after/side-effects? Should I be concerend?:(

Update: Strangely, I actually feel half normal this evening. After a rough day, I suddenly became somewhat energized and wanted to do things. I notice that my vision is more in focus and things seem sharper and clearer. After being in a constant fog, where I seem to see and perceive only those things directly in front of me, it is a relief. I can't believe I feel half normal. Still confused about whether this is an adrenal situation I am dealing with or not. The only thing I can deduce is that the acth stim produced some cortisol? But why was I feeling so ill all day and suddenly by 7PM, I feel much better? This is the best little spate of energy, clarity, etc., I have had since stopping my thyroid meds. Although the month leading up to their cessasion was pretty bad as well. Does anyone have any explanation for these events? I am so puzzled.
