Jenn,
I just read your exchange with Brian regarding the gall bladder testing both of you have experienced. I've been through the same thing and it took 5 years to get diagnosed - 5 years of unnecessary suffering. As you wrote, they're looking for gall stones as the evidence of a problem, and not always actually testing gall bladder function.
You mentioned a test where they measured gall bladder function, which in your case showed it wasn't working at all - leading to surgery two days later.
It would be really helpful if you could find out the medical name of that test. There are a few folks here right now suffering from pain that could well be gall bladder disease. Wouldn't it be nice for them to have the name of this test so they could request it?
Anything you could do to help would be greatly appreciated.:)

Steve:
My doctor did order a test called a HIDA scan and he said that measured the functioning of the gallbladder. However this came back normal as well. I was doing some poking around and did notice a small lump today right under where my rib cage joins together on my right side. I pushed on the lump and it caused excruciating pain. I am going to let my doctor know and feel this. He wants me to see a liver doctor although this may change his mind. I did some research and the only thing that I could possibly figure out was what is called a "desmoid tumor". They are kind of rare but I have all of the symptoms.
