About 9 years ago I was suffering from migraines real bad. Our doctor at the time prescribed Midrin, what she said was a muscle relaxer and that seemed to help.

I have been currently getting headaches due to some back/neck problems I've been having. I asked the doctor if he could prescribe Midrin, all he said was it wouldn't work.

Does anyone take this?

Midrin is not a muscle relaxer which is why it wouldn't work for the back/neck headaches. It is a very strong medicine used specifically for migraines. Your doc is right in not prescribing it for headaches that are not migraines. If you think a muscle relaxer will help the problem then why not ask him to prescribe a muscle relaxer for you.

So I guess the original doctor was wrong telling me it was a muscle relaxer. Now it makes sense!

I've actually had 4 muscle relaxers prescribed to me (Skelaxin, Zanaflex, Robaxin and Soma) and 2 of them were too mild, the other 2 knocked me out, which doesn't help my condition during the day.

It seems they have tried a few muscle relaxers on you already. One they didn't try if you are interested in the name of another which is very common is Flexaril. Since you do mention back/neck problems have you considered seeing a chiropractor. Hubby sees one for his general spinal health and really feels better after getting a treatment. Also since you do have back/neck problems then this is what they need to work on "fixing" first. Over the counter meds should take care of most headaches but if those don't cut it then ask the doc for something stronger. Also remember that naproxen is now available over the counter and if you haven't tried that yet for you headaches/back/neck problems this might be something that would work for you. P.S. just my usual word of advice..........always read the product literature that comes with the med so you know for sure what it is used ie: Midrin being for migraines and not a muscle relaxer.
