hi, new to the board. Been suffering from headaches for about 20 years or so and they seem to be evolving and getting more intense. Had xrays, CT scans, and tried a wide variety of meds but they still come and go alot. Started out as mild ones and are now full blown migraines that have knocked me out for days at a time. Various doctors say that they can not find anything and to try and cut down on the stress and to focus on the calcium channel drugs, like chronovera. Been taking it for about 18 months and only recently had increased it to 360mg/day and take imitrex nose spray for the ones that come anyway. Anyone got anyother ideas?

Have you been tested for food allergies to be sure that isn't part of the cause. Also if you check some of my replies to other posts you will see that there are plenty of meds available to try for migraine prevention. I know you said you have tried lots of meds but check the list to in case something is there that you haven't tried. Aspartame as mentioned in the other reply is a very common headache trigger as well as MSG which is found in a lot of prepackaged foods. Check your food labels closely to try watching for MSG. Also are you taking any other pain medication routinely or fairly often that could be causing rebound headaches? Perfumes and colognes as well as other scents can be a migraine trigger too. I would think that most of this has already been checked but it never hurts to toss out ideas to the poster to see if they have tried this or that. Chiropratic sessions might also help some.

mlgable;
thanks for the advice about the MSG's, I never heard anything about it before. Colonges and perfumes are real killers for me, if I don't like the smell then I will get a real bad one. It started out as sensitive to light, then smells, now sounds. In the summer time, I have to watch my bodies core temperature, if it gets to high then I'm in trouble to get multiple headaches. And the wind will drive me crazy, ear plugs help a bit then. The bone breakers, had a bad experience with one and messed me up a bit, but I'm willing to try a different one if it will help. Also read that garlic pills or garlic cloves could help too, anyone else heard of that?

thanks for the advice on the aspartame, I don't usually take stuff containing it, but I'll keep and eye out for it.
