hello all,
This is my first post, although I have read about every thread in this forum when I first got diagnosed with HSV-2. I have always read that you get more frequent OB's at the beggining, but after a while the OB become less and less frequent. But I am have been having constant(monthly) OB since the first one! I thought it would get better but it has not and this this is really starting to mess with me. I have not been to the doc for valtrax or any other prescription for it(mainly because of I am too embarrassed to even go to the doctor to ask for it, and figured it wouldn't even help:(. My question is what can I do to get rid of these constant(monthly) OBs?
A little history on myself...I'm in my mid 20's, male...I'm in college(stressful), don't really exercise too much, I kind of eat unhealthy, I have some major legal problems(stressful), I am on suboxone(its like methadone) for my heroin addiction, and I have some pretty bad insomnia. Also, I had a pretty bad drinking problem for a while(drinking everyday)...but It has been much better lately(past 2 months)...to just drinking on the weekends.

I am sorry this is soo long, this is just the first time that I have actually talked to anyone about it. I did try L-lysine for a little while, but it didn't help. My question is, what can I do to get rid of these constant OB's? I know that my lifestyle right now is not the way to get rid of these OB's, but it just seems like, no matter what I do, I still have these frequent OB's. Also, do ya'll think that valtrax or something of the sort would help?

Anyways, i'm sorry for the horrible typing and spelling errors, I'm just in a hurry. Either way, I appreciate any advice that ya'll could give to me! thank ya'll so much!! God bless!

Having herpes is nothing to be embarassed about. Ask your doctor for valtrex. I'm sure you won't be the first person with herpes he saw this week.

I don't think your unhealthy life style has a lot to do with why you have so many OBs. I too have been battling constant OBs for over 2 years, since I first got it. I do not do drugs or drink or even eat most meat; I have always eaten pretty well, except for probably too many sweets, but used to exercise regularly, but not lately and do not have a particularly stressful life. Anyhow, don't feel as though your drinking and drug habits, although very unhealthy and I hope you resolve those problems, are the reasons why you have constant OBs.

Here is what I do and have found works best for me, and I have tried MANY things. Try taking 3 organic extra virgin coconut supplements in the morning with food and then 3 more in the evening with food, and possibly 2-3 in the afternoon too, depending on severity of symptoms. I have been taking this for about 2 months now and it's REALLY been working very well for me. It allows me to live a relatively normal feeling existence. It's important to take the supplements as early as possible when symptoms start getting bad. I notice my itching, burning, tingling sensations go away within 30 min after taking them. Eventually I went down to just 6 capsules everyday and now sometimes I don't have bad symptoms and only take 3 supplements a day. It seems to be helping more the longer I take them. It makes me feel 90-100% better and prevents visual symptoms like big sores and bumps from occurring. I know there are tiny sores because I feel them when soapy water washes over them, but other than that the symptoms are MUCH milder. The first week I started taking them I had two large OBs, but the first one had already started coming on. I think you should give it two weeks of consistently taking it to really make a determination of if it is helping you.

For the past week I've started at-home ozone treatments too. If you want to know more, see my older posts and feel free to ask.

Please let me and all of us know if this helps...
Best of health!
