Had a laparascopic Supracervical Hysterectomy in March 2007 which only removes uterus due to endometriosis. I'm having breast swelling, irritability, anxiety/depression, weight gain...... But the hormone tests are fine.

hormone tests can be very unreliable if you are in perimenopause, as hormone levels change from hour to hour during this phase. you don't say how old you are but if everything adds up (your age, symptoms) then it could be the beginning of peri.

Hi sunshine8790,

I had a hysterectomy when I was 35 (I am now 45) also for endometriosis and they left my ovaries. I hope that took care of any pain you were having, for me it did not. I did more research and found by giving up sugar and white flour it took all the pain away, and I lost 75 pounds as a benefit. But I can not go back to sugar. It didn't take long to discover my ovaries were not working like they should be so starting trying some natural stuff (and there is lots to try.) But one thing I really recommend is a fish, flax and borage pill (I take 2-3 a day) for the anxiety/depression and sleeping issues. It really helped me get through those. I still take them and will not be without them. Hope this helps.
Julie:)

Hi Julie,

Can you tell me where you get the fish, flax and borage pill (all in one or separate pills?) from? I'm having some REALLY strange feelings in the menopause, as well as depression/anxiety, somehow feeling like I'm "not there", in a different world from everyone else and half baked!

What an experience a bad menopause is and how annoying when you speak to women who say they sailed through! Mind you, there's lots who are like me too, so at least I know it's down to my hormones being all over the place, which is a slight comfort!!

Thanks.

Pam

Hi Pud, Well I get mine from Wal Mart but you should be able to find it at other stores <removed>. If it doesn't have the borage in it, it is still good I just like having all three together.

Hi Pud,
Sorry I was also going to tell you you are not alone in this menopause roller coaster of hormones. It can be so up and down that I have felt like I was going crazy. I haven't talked with many women that just sail right through it but I know there are some. I too feel like I am not all there, fuzzy headed. I hope it gets better soon. Take care,
Julie:)

Thanks for reply. I wonder though, if I should check with my GP before taking the fish, flax and borage pills. I am already on HRT and anti-depressants, and I know even natural pills can sometimes clash with conventional medicine.

pud, i'm from the north of england (as you can see by my user name) and i take an all-in-one thing from Boots the Chemist (apart from high strength cod liver oil, which i take in a separate 'bomb'). it's definitaly helped me enormously over the last 2 years and contains all the stuff you need. it's called 'menopause plus' and is usually on '3 for 2' in Boots. i'm 2 years without a period but am very reluctant to stop taking these supplements and think i'm going to continue for a few years yet. maybe a good idea to talk to your gp about it next time you see him/her.
good luck.

Thanks Liverpool Sue, I should be replying with "Liverpool Pam" as I am originally from Liverpool too!!!! (have lived "down Sarth" for a few years now though because of my husband's job - he's a Scouser too!!). My mum and dad are down here now too since retiring as I am an only child and my 2 girls are their only grandchildren. I will give the menopause plus a try next time I am near a Boots - a trip into "town" (i.e. Luton, Milton Keynes or Bedford as we are a bit "out in the sticks" here and only have a big Tesco). Let you know how I get on. Pam xxxxx

what a small world!! you won't believe it but i'm sitting at my son's computer in hatfield writing this, down here doing some decorating for him. like you, i was born in liverpool, but we now live on the 'posh'side of the mersey, and our two sons live 'down sarth' so we spend a fair bit of time down here and are pretty familiar with the whole area.
if and when you get the menopause things, give them a good go, they may take a couple of months to be effective. they've recently re-done them and they now contain isoflavins (not something i actually wanted but i can't find a menopause pill without them) and they really do work - for me anyway.
good luck.
