Hi all, has anyone heard of treating gum disease with manuka honey. I have early signs of gum disease and I would like to hear from anyone with info on this treatment.

My late mother was looked after by a New Zealand girl who knew treated her leg ulcers with manuka honey successfully. Kiwis know about manuka as NZ is where it comes from. I have never heard of it being used to treat gum disease but will post on a dental board and report back.
Dental wisdom is that gum disease is treated by plaque control- brushing and flossing.

Sorry, no info from dental colleagues. Suggest you try it by smearing some on your gums before bed, but make sure you clean thoroughly first.
