Has anyone here been on Topomax for a while and found that you have rebound headaches? Do you find that after being on Topomax for a while you develop a resistance and need more and more in order for it to be effective? Did the benfits outweigh the side effects? Also, how much weight if any did you lose while on Topomax?
Thanks for any info Folks, BigTex

Topamax is not a pain reliever so you would not get rebound headaches from it. Topamax is anti epileptic medicine which is also used for migraine prevention. You can build up a tolerence to almost any medication but the dose should only be adjusted by your doctor. There are times when certain preventative medications no longer work for you and you may need to try something else. If you are having increased headaches and the drug is not preventing them any more then you need to report this to your doctor so the two of you can decide what to do next.

Topamax is a new medication for me. I was supposed to be working my way up to 200mg a day, but when I got to 75 mg a day I started to have side effects of severe tingling in both of my hands. Did you have this side effect? I called the doctor's office and they said to go back down to the 50 mg. But I am still having migraines and she is telling me I shouldnt be. Sounds like we are in the same boat in a way.
