I was prescribed Topamax for my headaches on Monday January 6, 2003. So I have been taking it for 5 days now. I can tell a big difference in my headaches. I was having tenderness, soreness, pressure, and pain under and around my right eye only before I went to the neurologist on Monday and he prescribed this drug. The only thing is I have been having some side effects of this drug like, being spaced out about an half hour to an hour after I take it and tingiling in my hands but it is very mild. Also I have noticed that soda tastes very flat. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem while being on this drug. I am to have a MRI run today Friday January 10, 2003 to rule out what is going on. The neuro is not sure if it is my sinsus or migraines or something else. Then I am to see and Ears, Nose, and Throat Dr. on Wednesday January 15, 2003. If anyone has any information on this drug it would be greatly appreciated.

I tried from 50mg to 600mg of Topamax and had no luck with it helping my headaches. It did however, make my brain mush. I couldn't remember things and would get lost going places. It was horrible. I had no problem on the lower dose of around 100mg.

I have been taking topamax (100 mg) for 9 months now and it has been the only preventative to help my headaches. I do still get migraines every now and then but not like before. Hope it continues to help!!!

Sorry, but carbonated drinks will taste like crap until you get off the topamax. I was on it for about a year and couldn't wait to get off so I could have another soda. Good luck w/ it!!

I am on Topamax 50mg daily. I ahve had the tingling in my hands which is why Im back down to 50 mg ( I was working up to 200mg a day). But I haven't had any problem with the soda. Not sure what I would do if I did, I live on the stuff LOL

I was on Topamax 50mg for 3 months and at first it seemed to really help, but them it started to taper off. My doctor decided to increase my dose to 75mg and it seems to be working great agagin. I notice that the first day that I take it, I always have a migraine. I also experience the tingling in my hands, but I also feel it in my feet and all over my face, almose as if it is falling asleep (lack of circulation). I have the same problems with soda, but I thought it was due to a different medication. Oh well, hope this helps...
