Finally...I heard from my surgeon's secretary today. My surgery will take place next Wednesday in the afternoon. Instead of booting somebody else out of the lineup to fit me in, he was able to get extra operating room time on a day when he doesn't normally operate. Wednesday's are the day when he performs all his injections, floroscopy studies, ESI's, etc. He has clinic on Monday and Tuesdays and then does his surgeries on Thursday & Fridays. So it looks like the people who may have had spinal injections scheduled for Wednesday will now have to reschedule to allow me to have my fusion done. I thank them all anonymously!! It looks like it will be about a 4 hour surgery, nothing too complicated - he will fuse me from T3-T6 after removing the offending bone pieces that are impinging on my spine. The post-op hospital stay will be about 1 week and I don't expect to be going to any rehab afterwards. In the past I've come straight home after a fusion and spent the first week just doing very basic things - they send me home with a "No BLT's Rule"! It isn't an anti bacon lettuce and tomato diet, it's a ban on Bending-Lifting-Twisting! I'll probably start some home physical rehab shortly after that. Thanks for everyone's support. All the best - K'Mac

That is great news that you have been scheduled. Take care of yourself and if your symptoms worsen please don't ignore them. I have been praying for you and will continue to pray for you and your surgeon.

Hello
May I join everyone in saying "woo hoo". So pleased for you and I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Spend the next week training your puss cats to fetch the remote and the paper, and if your dear hubby is anything like mine I'm sure you'll be very well looked after.
Best wishes

YIPPEE!!!!
Sorry, that you're having surgery but glad at the same time. You understand.
I hope you have a speedy and pain free(or with little pain) recovery.

That is such great news! Thanks for letting us know. Were you able to resolve the medication issue as well? Hope so.
Hang in there, girl, we'll all be sending prayers and good thoughts your way, as soon as you are able, please drop us a quick line and let us know you came through and are home safe.
I'm so sorry you had to be so sick and in so much pain and still needing to be the squeeky wheel just to get the care you need and deserve, I hope things turn around for you with this and wish you all the luck in the world.
Hugs, Fabby:angel:

Things to do find out if all of his team is on your network otherwise you will be in for a big surprise. Find out what your deductable is a head of time.
Did you get the paper work done and pre approval from your insurance?
We were all in network but it turned out part of the surgon's team wasn't and we faught united to pay that since the rest were on network.
Understand who is on the team and be aware lots of bills from the doc that sticks his head in says hi, to the 5 dollar asprin or 100.00 anti nasua meds
Also make sure anestiologist knows what meds you are on try to arrange to talk with them before surgery. Know what you are taking with you . Double check your bill billing mistakes are the norm....
Most of all lots of luck !!! and good thoughts prayers wishes go with you too

Hi Zoey - Thanks - all very good points!! I've had 10 previous surgeries with this doctor and his "team". I am very lucky to have 3 health insurance policies and I think my largest bill after they all paid their share was something like $236.00! That's out of tens of thousands of dollars for each surgery. You don't know how often I thank God for the wonderful health care I receive and wish I could share it with others on this Board who can't even put together the funds for a basic visit to a specialist! Yes....you do have to watch those $100 aspirin tablets....or the $125 "patient kits" they give you on arrival that are composed of a plastic comb, toothbrush and 1 oz. toothbase tube, miniature emesis (sp?) basin and some soap that doesn't float!! Woops...I forgot the designer footies;) K'Mac
