If it is already exposed it needs to be removed.

I've been there twice, and don't think the tooth will stay in, it won't, it will eventually fall out like mine did.

exposed nerve will have to be taken out ,also is very painful ,if exposed
if the tooth is rotten ,i would think it be better taking the whole tooth out before it ,rots any of your other teeth
