Diabetic1 01-26-2008, 05:56 PM Why do you urinate so much when your blood sugars are high? Where does the urine come from? Sponsor Coravh 01-26-2008, 10:14 PM Your body sees the excess sugar in your blood as waste. So it filters it out. In order to do this, it requires water (also taken from your system) in order to do this filtration. When there is a lot of sugar, a lot of water is needed to filter it out and this is why there is then a lot of urine. This is why you are so thirsty, because your kidneys are desperately trying to filter out the extra glucose. it is very important to drink a lot of clear non-sugary liquid otherwise you may become dehydrated. Cora tb68 01-27-2008, 08:03 PM Very good message below. Drink LOTS of water. I am roughly 215 lbs, and my water goal EVERY day is 120 ounces of just plain water. Most days I make that goal. I do drink unsweetened tea, and very rarely some diet orange pop - but that does NOT factor into my water goals. Unsweetened water is what will help you. A lot of it too. After a while, it isn't that hard either. I keep a full jug on my office desk. I have a water glasses at all my sinks in my house. I have water bottles in my fridge, and plenty of spares in my vehicles. Oh, and a general rule of thumb, if your urination is not clear - you are not drinking enough water. So, drink more! Hugs, ~ Mark |
