View Full Version : "hopeless dx of 'shallow palate"

I have a full upper denture after years or partials. Despite super stick creams and powders, they become unglued 3 or 4 times a day. My dentist says I have a shallow palate, and there isn't much that can be done unless I have implants. I'm on Social Security so implants are out of the question. What I dare eat is becoming more and more restricted, and I'm anxious when I have to go out because the problems can occur when eating or just talking.
Do I have a hopeless problem? Thanks for any suggestions.

Is it possible you could afford mini implants? They are less expensive that the regular ones. They are increasing becoming proven to be a viable alternative to traditional implants. They would then modify the denture you have now with snaps to attach to the implants.

I've just heard of mini-implants, but have no idea of the cost. My guess is that they may be out of reach, but I shall ask my dentist when I see him again. Thanks for the suggestion.
I had to retire early to become full time caregiver for my Mom, so my check is pretty small. Not that I wouldn't do that again in a heartbeat. I should just be more humble and do without the teeth.
