There are very reputable Plastic Surgeons in NYC who do NOT recommend a drain after a tummy tuck. Does anyone have any experience of TT without postop drain? Thank you.

HI,

Can I ask why one would not want a drain?...they do make the healing much better and with the fluid build up, that will come after the surgery, that can cause lots of discomfort.
Just wondering..

thanks

I would want to know why also. The drain is used to help heal you, I had tt two years ago Jan 08 and had drains in for about 8 days. You aren't ready to really do anything, so the drains weren't hindering anything but just helping me heal. If I were you, I would want the drains, they do not hurt at all. When they come out, they pull both at the same time, I thought it was going to be awful, but it was about 2 seconds of burning, I swear. I was shocked how effortless the removal was. I had myself all upset that morning and didn't need to be. anyway good luck,
