Up untill last month I was a prefectly healthy woman, I exercise (run marathons) eat low fat diet, never smoked and socially drink. I am 5ft 7 in tall and weigh 124. I had a gallbladder attack on 12.28.07, the dr. said i needed to have it removed. So i scheduled it for 1/22/08 a week after I ran the Disney marathon. I went in for the pre-admissions testing the day before the surgery. I was extremely stressed. My blood pressure was 130/80 and it is usually 90/60. When the dr came into see me prior to surgery he said my sugar levels were high, 139. I have never had an issue with this before. My last test in 2006 it was 83. My father is a diabetic for 10 years now, but has a totally different lifestlye then mine, smokes like crazy, doesn't know what exercise is, overweight and eats bad. I have a blood test now scheduled for tomorrow morning. Is it possible that i have diabetes?? Could the extreme stress i was under have raised my levels that high? I was really a basket case about this surgery. (the last thing i had was 9 hours prior to the test, tea with cream and sugar..i had it because they didn't tell me to fast).
