Hello everyone--My story goes like this. I have headaches. I have had them since I was around 15. I am a female, married with 2 teenagers. A couple of triggers for me are smells, esp. strong perfumes and smoke. The weather, high humidity and the change in the seasons. Allergy headaches related to stopped up sinuses, etc. My time of the month, last about 3 days. An argument, a disagreement, a crying episode...stressful situations that my children are involved in, like competitions and so on. Do you get the picture? My months are laced with all types of headaches. These are not treatable with otc medicines as I have been on narcotics off and on all my life. (well since my early 20's and Im 43) Tests have been run, MRI...catscans, etc. Here's my question. When going from your GP doctor to a nuerologist(sp) at this stage what do you think I should tell him? I've had a neurologist before back 10 years ago and I stopped going to him. I know have trouble convincing my GP that my headaches last all month long. I have developed a need for vp and I know I am addicted. But there is s NEED for the meds. Any all support/advice will surely be welcomed. I am close to the Atlanta area and I have tried to search for a good Doc. that I can turn all of this over too but havent been successful. Please anyone out there, I need advice.
