The problem is despite the fact you are having horrible pain from your headache... Pain relievers (even strong narcotics like fentanyl) will not help. You need to get a medication that will help the headache not the symptoms. For that you need a doctor to write you a prescirption. I have had really good success with a night time device called *******. It is a night guard that forces the muscles in your jaw and head to relax therefore reducing the amount of headaches I get. Hope this helps

Also if this is a migraine you should be getting some medication specifically for migraines. None of the meds you mentioned are specifically for relieving a migraine. See a doc and get some relief if you are still having the migraine when you read this post.

Kierra,

How are you today? I think I've seen you over on the TMJ board too right? When I had a week long migraine last fall and couldn't take my meds b/c I was nursing my baby still I finally went to the ER and had my pain relieved with reglan and morphine. Now my son has weaned and I'm on Topamax as a preventative and I have Zomig ZMT if a migraine "breaks through" the Topamax. So far so good.

I hope you're feeling better. Please also post to me on the TMJ board and let me know what you're doing for that too. I'm in month 3 of a neuromuscular splint & TENS therapy and having improvement after 14 years, though I still clench and grind all night long.

If you have had splint therapy for 6 months without help then I think it is time to investigate a different type. There are many kinds on the market and you should really look for a different type. I have had many and some of them made things even worse but the one I have now it fantastic for me although I am sure it doesn't work for everyone
