I can't seem to find a doc that understands that I have headaches everyday. Do any of you have any suggestions as to what I can do? I've spent the day looking in the phone books and online trying to find 1. The nuerologist only will see you with a referral plus you got to wait forever to get in.

Where do your headaches originate? Do you have poor posture? Give a little bit of daily habit details.

Since you are having headaches you need to do a few things. Once if you are taking pain medication for them daily you need to stop taking the medication for a while as you may actually be suffering from rebound headaches. You also need to keep a diary of where the headaches are located, what type of pain it is ie: dull or sharp or throbbing and make a note of when you have the pain and what you are doing when you notice the pain etc. Also what does or doesn't relieve the pain. Then see your doc and get his help with checking out routine things that could be causing the headaches and let him run the routine tests such as a CT scan and MRI etc. If he is unable to find the cause he will then refer you to a neurologist.

I have had all the routine tests done. NOTHING. My headaches are stress, monthly period, weather, sinuses...etc. Get the picture? They are mostly from just plain ole stress. I just can't stop getting overly involved in things and thus a headahce. I can't make my doc understand this.

Seriously, go get a massage. It's the best relief for what you have. I recommend it to all my friends to see me for one at least once every month or 2, and it helps them a lot. It's the best cure, and it keeps you off expensive meds that only mask the pain and stress.

I can't make my doc understand this.
Then you need to change your doctor.
The nuerologist only will see you with a referral
Not all. My first neuro was recommended by my family dr. however, I was very dissatisfied, so I searched the net & yellow pages & found one on my own right up the street from me! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
It took 3 months for me to get an appt. However, after the initial visit, I see the neuro every month as I am on a migraine management program that needs to be watched.
Keeping a headache/migraine calander helps alot.
What you can do is check the yellow pages for a Dr Referral service (free) or check online like I did.

Mz-- I have checked the phone book...we don't have a listed Dr. Referral that you speak of. I went online and EVERY doc listed under neuro needed a referral.I pulled up my area of 100 miles btw. I got problems, right?

Since you now mentioned that your headaches are stress related the docs are not going to do much regarding your headaches. If you are taking pain killers daily then you need to stop them for a while as you may actually be suffering from rebound headaches. When headaches are caused by stress the best thing that can be done is to try to eliminate some of the stress or find ways to help relieve some of the stress and tension. These types of headaches will continue until you help eliminate some of the cause or find ways to relieve them naturally.

Sinus headaches can pretty much be eliminated by making sure you take a good antioxidant supplement along with your daily multivitamin so you don't wind up with sinus problems.

Hi Sincerly,
I don't think you have a problem. Just be very persistant. Check the yellow pages & call every Neuro you find. If any one of them say they need a referral ask them all if THEY can recommend a Neuro who does not need a referral.
If you have ins.......lie & tell them you have no ins but are willing to pay cash up front. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif Make an appt & when you get there, tell them you actually do have ins that you thought ran out. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
If you do not have ins, tell them that you are willing to pay $$$ up front & ask for a payment plan.
Go to Google.com & in the search field type: physician referral service in LaGrange,Georgia. I am not sure which county LaGrange
is located but I found this: Physician referral service:

Okay~first of all Id like to thank MzMigraine...you seem to be on the same page as I am. For the others that are telling me things I already know thanks for trying if that's what you were doing. But just to set the record straight~ Ive had headaches since I was 15....not all are stress (which you sound like some of the doctors that walk around stress-free from real life when you say, oh, find what's stressing you out and do something about it. yeah RIGHT) sorry to be so harsh but Im really sick of being told the "I" can fix my headaches...as far as rebound...yeah Im sure I experience those, but that type of pain doesnt bother me at all....its the TRUE headaches that I don't like to deal with. I know the difference between a sinus headache that most people who havent lived with them like I can call a Headache and they aren't my problem...once again~ thanks mzmigraine...ill try that right now.
