I was told I had an enlarged bile duct, I have gone through CT and Xrays, I have to have another MRI on Friday, does anyone know what this could mean, I am getting a little scared. Has anyone ever been told this before? Please any information would be greatly appreciated.

My doctor mentioned that my bile duct looked larger then he expected but not necessarily at a level of concern.
He said this indicated that a gallstone may have escaped my gallbladder and therefore he would want to do a ECP (sp?) when he took out the gallbladder.
First they did blood tests for signs of infection and when that came back normal they did not worry about it.

Is that the reason the doctor took out your gallbladder, because of the enlarged bile duct?
