For the last 4-5 years I have had this weird thing happen in head. I will be laying in bed and it is as if someone wound up a rubber band and lets it go in my head. There is no pain, I suffer from headaches as well, but not neccessarily at same time. It is very scary!!! I am shook up for a few min. afterward. Please, does any one else know what I am talking about? I have been searching forever on the net trying to find someone else with same symptom. Please, let me know. It comes very unexpected and goes as fast as it came. It lasts for a second and then gone, I then have a tingly sensation in head for a few minutes. It is almost like a electric shock.

i HAVE GOTTEN THE SAME SENSATION AROUND MY SHOULDER AND NECK AREA..IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE ZAPS ME LIKE A SHOCK IT LAST FOR A SECOND..IM NOT SURE WHAT IT IS

It's funny this started a few months ago and happened about 4 x so far and My dad died 21/2 years ago and I swear the first couple times it happended I thought he was zapping me or something!! It literally feels like some one shot a rubber band at the side of my neck around my collarbone..I ahven't had any testing or even mentioned it to my doctor..A mri would show if there was something wrong..I tried to look up electric shock sensation and it has to do w/ a cervical disc problem and somethign to do w/ the nerves..how often does it happen? do you have any other symptoms? what does your doctor think? I also have the headaches and I have been getting a kinda tingling sensation around the one side of the back of my head..it's kinda weird

i have had it for years now. But, in the beginning, it would happen once a year or every couple months. But, in the last few months, it happens all the time!!! Scares the heck out of me. it happened 5 times last monday night and I have the most horrible migraine since. I am going on day 8 now. I have some vicodin and muscle relaxer..etc, but I have a one year old and I work, i need to be coherant and able to function. haha So, i am basically on nothing and am ready to go out of my mind. I went to the dr. yesterday and she said it is just migraines, and I had to plead with her to get referrred to neuro. I talked to the neuro dept. nurse last week and she is the one who told me to go to the dr. for a referral because she said it is not a "normal" symptom and that they have a lot of patients who complain of same thing. She said I needed to have further testing to pin point where it is coming from. She said the diagnosis with most of the patients with this symptom are MS, Lupus, migraine scarring, or even as you said, a pinched or slipping disc in neck. So, they are calling me today to discuss where to start. I will keep you posted, and Maybe you should talk to your doc as well.

Jojokern; have you considered that the "rubber-band" type head pain just might be associated with consuming food products containing MSG (monosodium glutamate)? That's the additive in most processed foods. You can research it on the internet -- as there are many web sites which describe the affects of MSG. Some people are highly allergic to it (including me).
