View Full Version : Advice Please--I'm Freaking A Bit!

I just got back from seeing my endo today for my thyroid follow ups (I do this twice a year). I've been having a 3 week run of extra systole (extra/skipped beats). Doc is not concerned by did a TSH just to check that to make sure I'm not hyper. He also decided to check my CBC and ferritin.

I admit that I was VERY nervous during the appointment (as usual). After the appointment I felt okay and went down to the drawing lab. Had my blood drawn (felt fine). I left the lab, got in the elevator and got hit with a fairly moderate dizzy spell. It passed quickly, thank God. But now I just feel scared and "funny."

My mind is running away from me with thoughts like: am I anemic still and don't know it and those 2 little vials of blood loss have pushed me over the edge?

What do you think?

Christine--Clam down you sound like me and that's not good. The elevator didn't help things either or the blood draw. I react to all those things, making your panic worse. I think that your concern from the 3 week run~caused you to have a little panic at your appointment. That's what I do and I just hate it, I know how you feel.

It could very well be from lack of iron. The longer I was low the worse my symptoms got. I never post all of my symptoms at the same time because people would think I was crazy. I'm just saying you have been through a lot and you do have panic and a low ferritin/iron. As you already know, that doesn't necessarily mean that you are anemic again either. As for the two vials of blood they say they are replenished after the first water you drink. It's not a lot of blood as it looks. They took mine all year and it never changed my counts.

When will you get the results? You will feel better at that time. Even if you are ~A~ it will be okay. I still get strange beats once in a while and feel like you. I think a certain amount of that is completely normal. I would take a Xanax and know that everything is going to be okay. Think yourself lucky that you had a Ferritin and CBC done, that's a good thing! Keep us posted! FLFLOWERGIRL:)

FLFLOWERGIRL--

Thanks for your reassuring thoughts. You know how the mind can work. My last CBC was done in late November and it looked really good--ferritin was at 20. I just started thinking, oh my, what if I've dropped during this time despite the fact that I was feeling good at least 2 weeks ago--enough to start back to exercising and I did well. So hopefully it's just my panic.

If, I'm lucky, I will get a call tomorrow. After that, it is anyone's guess because my doctor no longer works Fridays and Mondays. His nurse does though, so as long as her reviews the labs tomorrow, there is a good chance I will get a call tomorrow or Friday. Otherwise, I guess Tuesday.

I'm home now and I'm going to take a nap. I went back to the office after my appointment (when I made my "freak out" post) but something happened with the plumbing in the building and they had to lock all the bathrooms. So many of us went home. Can't say it bothers me too much!:D

Christine--I would say with your ferritin at 20 that it's probably continuing to go up or at least level out. I think that if you were having a problem with blood loss or absorption that you would have had something more happen by now. That's what I tell myself anyway. I have been ice cold lately and tired but it IS from my thyroid and I know it. My mind still keeps questioning am I anemic and so on. It's great that you have started exercising too, that's a very good sign.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for an answer. I will keep positive thoughts for a great ferritin number for you. Glad you were able to leave early and get some rest. Funny how things work out. FLFLOWERGIRL:)

Christine, I am in the same boat as you right now. Had my blood drawn on Monday and am just waiting for results. Definitely anxious, but hoping for the best. My ferritin was at 24 in early november. I have noticed that my hair has stopped falling out excessively. Not sure if it is because I have quit stressing as much or the ferritin is going up. Either was it's a positive. Best of luck
