I have had headaches for about 5 or 6 years - pretty regularly. These are all the things I have tried or gone through: 2 chiropractors, physical therapy (craniosacral therapy), physiatry, neurologist, 2 root canals (hoping it would help), CT scan & MRI (showing nothing), Pamelor, , prednisone, ultram, vicodin, switching to lower estrogen birth control, massage, a new bed, allergy med.
I think that covers it all...
I am now taking verapamil and using zomig or amerge for bad days. I also am trying biofeedback now, but I feel like my attitude is poor and that nothing will help. I have really felt like I just need to accept this as part of my life!
Is anyone else feeling this way?

There is no "cure" for migraines. However, you should be finding some type of "relief" from them. If you are not, then maybe you should seek a 2nd opinion from another Neurologist.
You need to be on a good migraine management program. Keeping a headache calander, noting the foods that triggers your headaches, weather, lighting, etc.
If there is a Headache Clinic in your neighborhood, suggest you set up an appt.
TIP: Vit B-2 400mg/daily seems to help along w/prescribed meds.

You are right about maybe finding a different neurologist, I feel like she just wants to give me meds and send me on my way, but that's why I talked to my general doctor and we are trying biofeedback, then the next step is the headache clinic. I am not convinced they are migraines exactly but who knows.
I do keep a calender of the headaches, and have tried the food diary and found no obvious triggers. I recently have started journaling daily which is supposed to be therapeutic to get out thoughts and emotions without having to pour everything out to a person. We'll see how that goes.
Thanks for the advice, I do actually expect that eventually something will work, but I just have some days where it is depressing and frustrating.
By the way, is it vitB-2 or 12? I just bought some B12 b/c I thought that was the one suggested in another post.

MZ Migraine- I just found that older posting with the suggestions on VitB complex and your suggestion for B2. Do you think the B2 is better to try than the B complex?

I would try the B2 first @ 100mg. Take 4 capsuls (400mgs) daily. You will have the yellowist piss in town. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Not to worry though. Your doc will confirm.

My fam phy referred me to a Neuro. Took me 6 months to realize that I was really not satisfied. Was not cooperating w/Social Security Disability (I am trying to get benefits). So I checked the yellow pages & scoured the internet & discovered a Headache Clinic a mile from my house! Took 3 months to set up an appointment. The initial exam took 2 hours! The Neurologist there told me I was NOT getting good treatment (migraine management) previously.
I now see my NEW Neurologist every 6 weeks whereas the old Neurologist it was every 4 months.
I am on a new management program w/new prescriptions that are WORKING......... meaning I am finding "relief" for the first time in the 1 1/2 yrs since this mess started.
I have NO insurance, so I pay for my office visits in cash. Because I do this, the Neurologist GIVES me a 3 month supply of sample prescriptions even though she knows I have a discount prescription plan. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Guess who is now glad they got that 2nd opinion.

this is my first time posting about my problems, so this is prolly gonna be a long one...
first, i know how you feel laney and i have a lot of empathy for you. things have been really rough for me over the past few years. out of the blue, i started getting chronic migraines and daily tension headaches. they've become so frequent and debilitating that i've had to stop working last year and am currently on disability. i spend more time laying in bed than i do living.
i'm seeing four specialists right now - a neurologist, psychiatrist, psychologist for counseling and neurofeedback treatments, and recently have starting seeing a chiropractor. the neurologist i see specializes in treating migraines and she's out of state, the drive is a pain. it seems that no one can help me or can find out the cause of my migraines.
one of the problems is that i have so many things wrong with me that COULD cause migraines, such as EEG slowing/brain dysfunction, TMJ, allergies, asthma, hormone imbalance, PCOS, insomnia, severe depression and anxiety, my atlas vertebrae is crooked, several vertebrae in my neck don't move, etc. i seem to stump every doctor i see and i'm to the point where most of the time i'd rather be dead that be like i am, cuz this just isn't living. no one can ever depend on me to be there, because i'm usually too sick to go anywhere.
i'm only 29 and i've been like this for the past six years, and it's gotten progressively worse. i have migraines 20-25 days each month. my doctors have tried loads of "preventative medications" on me, which only seem to make me sicker. i currently take a whole bunch of medications on a daily basis. for the migraines, i usually take imitrex injections, zomig, or percocet. if you've tried imitrex - just a comment, while the imitrex pills (the stronger strength) don't do anything for my migraines, the injections are the only migraine medication i've found that really helps. unfortunately, the shots are kind of thick and you bleed after them and it doesn't always help my migrianes, but it's better than any other i've tried. i have to admit, i prefer narcotics because they don't have the awful side effects that some of the migraine medications have. you know how zomig and imitrex make all of your muscles ache so bad that it hurts to move. i take two percocet at a time, but that's not enough for the pain and my doctor doesn't want to give me anything stronger.
hang in there. hopefully, you'll have better luck than i have had...
