I just got my acrylic nails on about 6 weeks ago. I have noticed that under my acrylic the actual nail plates lift. Its not painful but I have a pocket of air between the nail plate and my skin. I recall this happening before. It starts at the tip and works its way back. It is currently about half way down my nail bed. In the past when this would happen if I hit the tip of my nail, the whole acrylic would pull back taking my real nail with it..ouch! Is this an allergy... my cuticles are fine and its not painful until I have an accident? I am also afraid of having them removed because my nails will come3 off with the acrylic.. help

If there is no yellowing of teh nail plate and no apparent debris in the area of separation, it is more than likely a yeast (candida) infection. You should see your doctor for Naftin ointment to treat it. You will need a prescription for Naftin if your doctor diagnosis it as yeast.

Some people asre prone to getting yeast infections, but it is usually passed from one customer to another in the salon if they use the same files on you that they do on everyone else.
