Hello all i had my period last week for about 4 days... i started my 2nd pack of Loestrin 24 FE... now i am on my second week of the new pack and i have what i think is my period again... it cant be spotting because its red is not dark... don't know what's going on my belly hurts a lot and i have been taking my pills religiously everyday at 8am... and boom... i dunno if i'm pregnant, if i was and lost the baby or if this is just a side effect

please help...:confused:

It sounds to me like breakthrough bleeding, which is a very common side effect of birth control. It can particularly be an issue with the ultra low-dose pills like Loestrin24. I would suggest that you give it a little time to work itself out, but..... if it continues, you may not be a good candidate for such a low dose pill, and you'll have to switch to something higher dose. That seems to be a very common problem with this pill.

Some women lose their period all together. But others end up having too much breakthrough bleeding because the hormones are too low. That's what happens, unfortunately, when you start chemically screwing around with your hormones and stuff. It can be a real pain in the you-know-what to find the right dose level, sometimes.

Thank you so much for your reply - i called my doctor and she advised me to take a pregnancy test - if negative continue on taking the pills... she also mentioned the breakthrough bleeding... i really hope i dont have to switch because i really like this one...
