for the past few nights, ive been noticing headaches after i lay down for a while, they ache all around, and usually whatever side of my head is not on the pillow hurts a bit more, also keeping my eyes closed seems to cause some pain right above my eyes, sometimes my neck hurts.... im just wondering could these be tension headaches? i notice i begin thinking alot more about **** that stresses me out when im lying down trying to fall asleep, and if you think they are, what would be best to combat these, other then keeping a clear head at night....
i have seen excedrin especially for tension headaches, does that do any good? please help

Excedrin no matter what form you buy is merely one aspirin tablet/one tylenol tablet all with caffiene to help enhance the pain relieving effect. For some people this combination works fine. If you are sensitive to aspirin though you should not take excedrin. For me I think it is just as easy to take two of whatever pain medicine you normally take and drink a soda with caffiene in it along with the pain meds.

thanks for the reply, ill try it,
but what im more concerned with i guess, is are these headaches im experiencing normal? like right now im up, i was laying for a while, and now my head aches on the left side, its not real bad pain, but its like a dull ache,
i know this is probally all stress related, and im probally a hypocondriact (or however its spelled), because i was getting weird headaches like this a few months back, and i made the BIG mistake of looking on the internet at symptoms of various stuff, and i convinced my self back then that i had a brain tumor, untill i finally had a CT scan done back then and it showed up negative, and i had it off my mind, untill recently when my head started to hurt and that was the first thing i started to worry about..
i worry often that maybe the CT scan dident catch something that maybe an MRI would, and i throw my self into hours of worry.......... i was at the doctors this week because of what seemed to be a bladder infection or something and i mentioned the headaches to the doctor, and he did a neurological test and he said everything was perfect, and i mentioned i had a CT scan done 3 months back, and he said if they continue the next step would be an MRI....... so i guess that is the source of my worry, like him saying that makes me think the CT scan is a weak test compared to a MRI or whatever :*(
someone tell me that this is all stress related :/

stress can do a lot of things to your body. it usually is the cause of tension headaches (which are normally a tight band-like pain across the forehead or the back of the head). stress can also agitate migraines. if you get severe or chronic pain, see your doctor and tell him your symptoms and ask for a diagnosis and prescription. for me, everything over the counter is crap and doesn't work.

by the way, just so you are aware... caffeine pills are used to treat tension headaches for some people, but caffeine can also be a trigger for others. if you notice you have worse headaches after you have caffeine, then you don't want to take caffeine pills for your headaches.

hey, could these headaches be allergy related? because the pressure is constantly coming from my eye area, and sometimes happans on the left and right side of my head...
i used to get really bad allergys like 6 years ago and before, my eyes would be come extremly itchy, for like all of august and september... then they disapeared for a year or so, now is it possible they returned as headaches? i was tested and tested allergic to ragweed btw...

doubtful, unless they are sinus headaches. i'm allergic to everything that grows outside and just about everything inside. i was allergic to all the grasses, most of the trees, ragweeds, molds, etc., that they tested me for. i've had food allergy tests also and nothing showed up. if you had a food allergy, you would probably notice more than just a headache...

Zapy,
I am just like u , i am allergic to everything it seems! Caffeine does trigger headaches for me as well. I only take medicine if i absolutely need it, i am not a pill person. What I have been doing for my eye and forehead aches is puttin a cold rag on them, and it actually helps. Try it.

pucker: thanks. i've tried the migraine ice patches, the cold/hot compresses don't work for me. i hafta give myself injections and take narcotics for relief from my migraines and even that doesn't usually take it away... i don't have any known triggers, they just seem to come almost every day. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

humm, im just wondering if allergys can go away then come back and have different effects (like sinus pressure)
and would it be possible to develop NEW allergys over time?
i have a stuffy nose also, the pressure and what seems to be a hive by the right tonsil in my mouth, so these all seem to go along with allergy problems eh?
the last time i was tested was probally 10 years ago

yes, you can develop allergies at any time, any age. if you've moved recently, you may also noticed more allergies depending on the amount and type of allergens in your area. i moved from harisburg to manheim (PA) last year and my allergies got a lot worse now that we live out in the country...

You can develop new allergies at any time in your life, and something else a lot of people don't realize is that you can suddenly become allergic to something you've been exposed to for MANY YEARS. Some people become allergic to their pets, their make-up, foods, etc. Just in the last few years I've become allergic to bananas, and I've eaten them all my life.
