I just got the results back from follow up bloodwork a week after gallbladder surgery..the glucose was 87 (the day before surgery it was 139..I was extremly nervous prior to surgery) and the A1C was 5.2. So the Dr said there is nothing to worry about. The only thing that was off was my HDL is was 33.6, my last test in 2006 it was 52. My LDL came back at 67 and overall cholestrol was 134. Should I be worried about the low HDL or could the stress after surgery and not eating right could have caused it? I don't smoke and I am a marathon runner. I am 32 year old female, 5ft 7in and weigh 124.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your HDL is a little low but it could be caused from stress. Could also be caused because of restricted fat intake and increased carb intake. You might wait a few months and let everything get back to normal and recheck. If its still low then try posting on the Cholesterol board and I'm sure you'll find plenty of suggestions for how to improve the HDL.

I concur. Give it some time and get retested...maybe add some fish oil to your diet.
