I'm a 21 year old female, I had my gallbladder removed two weeks ago tomorrow. I was put back in the hospital over the weekend and still haven't gotten any better. The doctors keep saying they think that my digestive system is still "asleep" from the anesthetic and that i will be fine soon. I'm so scared that it isn't going to get any better. The nausea is pretty much constant all day long. I only have 2 phenegran left with no refills, I also was given Reglan before the surgery because of the nausea. I'm just upset and pissed because the doctor said that as soon as i got my gallbladder out that all of my symptoms would go away. Well he was wrong, I feel fine except for the nausea. Can anyone give me any advice or any hope in this. Thanks
Kristin

WEll, the nausea could be caused by many things. Some people have it as a result of the anesthesia or the pain meds and it may take a while to go away.
Have you tried chewing fresh gingerroot? It's usually very helpful.

I've tried everything i can think of. I even take the anti-nausea meds that they gave me. It's been two weeks and nothing has helped. I don't take any pain medication so it's not from that. I don't know I'm just tired of being sick. thanks for the advice

Are you eating fat free? Other than that, some people just have a hard time getting past the nausea...esp if nausea was one of their symptoms beforehand. It can drag on....

yeah it was one of the major symptoms before hand. Then they finally did the Hida to find out for sure and my gallbladder was at 0% so they finally decided hey maybe we should take it out.... and now im stuck with this awful nausea.

A previous poster here had the same issue...it took couple of months to go away for her. Sometimes you just have to wait it out. Sorry.

If it were me, I would try giving myself some abdominal massage. I find that can help a lot of stuck things. If your guts are still asleep, maybe it would help. I have done this for friends with gut problems, though not exactly for your problem. It can be very healing and soothing, though, just like massage therapy increases blood flow to an area and gets things going normally. Just an idea.
