Okay i got a staph infection from a pedicure and above my big toe nail its was inflamed and very painful. I took keflex and it didnt treat it so i had to get my toe nail removed and went on stronger anti-biotics. Right after the pedicure my nail never grew which also gave me reason to believe somethng went wrong. Since my nail didnt grow due to the infection, its now removed, will it grow back?

I would file a complaint against the salon with your state board of Cosmetology. I would also see a lawyer. This sort of thing happens much too often in salons that do not follow their state board regulations concerning sanitation. The salon should be held liable for your medical expenses.

If the doctor removed the nail root, they removed the source of nail plate cell production. In this case, a new nail cannot grow. If they excised only the visible nailplate, a new nail will eventually grow, but may grow in damaged.

he said on friday when he took it off he saw a healthy nail bed so im hoping it will start to grow, but he had no idea why the nail stopped growing in the first place. Also, he said it wouldnt be painful after but it has been seriosuly painful and its really hard for me to get around. He told me that the more blood/pus the better so the infection would be draining but im not bleeding that much. So if you could answer those inqueries, and also I was wondering how long do you think until i will be able to run?

You can alleviate some of the pain by soaking in cold water twice a day. After soaking and drying, apply a drop of peroxide to help dry it out. It will take the toenail from 6 months to a year to replace itself depending on your genetics, so I would not suggest running until it does.

so turns out i didnt have an infection.. there was no growth on my culture BUT he found under my nail a granuloma? or a piece of tissue that somehow got stuck behind my toe nail which cause my nail not to grow and for the toe to be swollen and painful.. do you think my toe will heal correctly and the nail will grow back normal?

It should. It doesn't sound like the matrix was damaged.
