I'm currently in nursing school right now. I'm just about done with my pre-req's and then it's off to the nursing program for me! I'm sooooo excited - I cannot wait to become a nurse!!!

I live in the US (Florida) and we do have a 2 year Associate of Science degree for nursing (RN), which is what I'm doing. We also have the 4 year Bachelors, but I want to start work right away and then go back for the Bachelors later. Eventually, after I'm done with school, I would like to be a Nurse Practioner.

I should be done w/ my pre-req's in January, with the exception of 1 lab. After that, I'm hoping that I can apply to the nursing program in either January or May of next year. I'm SOOOOOO excited :D !!!

I am going to take the NLN test is Sept to get into the LPN program then follow that with RN. Taking the slower route. I have been involved in nsg for five years, both my mom and MIL are RNs. I am currently a CNA and will get my LPN first so I can make more moolah while getting my RN. I have most pre-reqs done, just need four more, though it will prob be more by the time RN hits. I am happy that you all are wanting to get into nursing. Just make sure it is for the RIGHT reasons. Nothing worse that working with an RN who hates her work. So, good luck to you all!

Sure, the money's great, but I feel really good about helping other people feel better.

oh, that was taken out of context, I was talking about someone else's reply on money. I am in nursing for the right reasons. I have been involved in this field for six years as a nsg asst and LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do! I want to specialize in Traumatic Brain Injury, but with my back may not be able to. It was never and never will be for the money. If that were the case, I wouldn't be working my A** off for pennys. We are very very underpaid. BUt, it is the love of my work and helping people that keeps me in nursing. I need a degree and sure, the pay increase is nice-but the money is not and never was the reason I got into nursing. I am sorry if it came across that way.
