A year ago I caught a fever when I was working in Kuala Lumpur. It was fairly mild and soon disappeared. I suspect it was something I ate. Since then Ive had the following symptoms which have persisted;

1. excessive wind from the back passage
2. Bowel symptoms ie. stools are bigger and I go more often. Lower abdomen feels kind of funny(!?). No pain though.
3. Mild malaise
4. Alcohol intolerance (I used to drink a lot)
5. Feel sick if I eat too much
6. Psychological symptoms. These come and go but are sometimes extremely unpleasant. Difficult to explain but I do feel sometimes as though Im going mad and nothing seems real. Horrible and by far the worst symptom.

Ive had blood tests, urine tests etc but my doctor is flummoxed. Ive been tested for common tropical diseases and its none of them.

Could I have IBS? Help I think Im beginning to lose it!

Have you been to a gastroenterologist yet? If not, you might want to do this to get a diagnosis and a treatment plan (foods/beverages to avoid, when to eat, advice on over-the-counter medications and/or prescriptions, etc). #6 may be the cause of the other symptoms, or may be the result of them. IBS affects people in so many different ways which is why you might want to find out from a medical professional who specializes in this area whether or not you have it.
