how do you know if it is your liver that hurts? would the bottom of my rib cage hurt too?

You would feel epigastric or right upper quadrant pain and tenderness. Liver pain can be mistaken for gallbladder illness, or at least this is a common misdiagnosis for pregnant women suffering from HELLP Syndrome.
