hi, just a quick ques. on "liquid diets"...are they bad or safe? Will they mess up your digestive track? If you continue to drink them for all your meals, will I ever be able to eat solid food again?! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif I mean, I know I should know all this...had my own dietitian for 2 yrs.--but just wondering...I have been drinking protein shakes (very healthy-herbalife) the last 4 days, for all my meals...don't really feel hungry, but am scared this is not right, I don't want to mess up my system even more...but I am going to the bathroom still (at least 2x's a day, so I know my body is not starving), but just wondered if anyone had any comments...I have lost 8-9 pds. so far, but don't want it to be bad, in the long run...I finally want to live and NOT hurt my body, mind, spirit anymore--Life is AWESOME, and I want to see the world!! Thanks so much!! *Take care, God Bless, & always--NEVER forget--Keep Smilen!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif All the love & luck in the world-- Alissa

I would consult a physician before continuing this diet.

Please consider taking vitamins/supplements according to the recommended values.
You shouldn't have a problem with the drinks as opposed to actual food. (Just as long as you get those vitamins, minerals, etc. from elsewhere). Your stomach may shrink so that when you do go back to regular food, you won't be able to eat as much as before.

Good luck!

Everything I have heard about liquid diets has been bad... They mess up your metabolism, digestion, etc and when you do eat "regular" food, you gain all the weight back. If you truely want to lose weight, you should cut down your caloric intake and excercise more with the advice of your physician.
