xray showed bilateral spondylosis L5 what does it mean

Spondylosis means changes in the vertebral joint marked by increasing degeneration of the disc with changes in the bones and soft tissue (arthritis)- like bone spurs, narrowing, etc.. Bilateral means both sides of the spine. L5 is the vetebrae level in your lower back - this is the level associated with sciatica.

what doctor should I bring this to? What should be the next steps in getting this taken care of. Should an MRI or CT be performed. I currently have lupus and a thyroid disease, does this new findings relate to my current conditions? Thanks

Hi again. Let me ask you a couple questions. Did you go to primary care with some symtpoms and she ordered an xray to get this diagnosis? what were your symptoms? Lots of people have this and have no symptoms and it is found during exams when looking for somthing else. Some have it with many symptoms. It is common as we age to have spondylosis so don't get excited yet. Answer how you got here and I'll tell you what I would do if it were me.
Your other issues are autoimmune problems and they usually come in multiples. If you have one autoimmune you are likely to get others (thyroid, diabetes, lupus, etc.). Your compression at L5 is not related.
