hi , wondering if any1 else out there has suffered with eyebrow hair loss , it stared about 7years ago but wasnt very serious my eyebrows was really thick and generlly quite big , it was the odd patch i noticed which i just covered up with a pencil , i then became really ill after a virus and very stressfull time i was diagnosed with cfs which was 3years ago now (but did take them 2years to diagnose me) , its gradually getting easyer to manage little by little , i quite smoking a year ago to help inprove my symtoms , it has helped alot but doing so seems to have some how triggered my eyebrows to full out at a rapid rate to the point where i am not going to have any left in a matter off months or even weeks, has anyone relating to cfs or other illnesses suffered with this problem ? has any1 heard of this happening or have any ideas on why this would happen , iv had my thyriod checked as my mother has a thyroid disorder but docs say its fine , really worried seems like once im gotting one problem (slowley) under control something else pops up to bit me in the butt . . :dizzy:
any coments would be a great help . . :)

I thought that I had lost the outer edges of my eyebrows a while back. About two years ago, I was diagnosed as being hypothryroid (that seems to go along with Epstein Barr Syndrome). The doctor put me on the lowest dose of Synthroid possible after having an allergic reaction to another medication. Since I have been on the Synthroid, I have noticed that my eyebrows looked thicker. Now they tend to get very long and wirey so I have them done by an electrolysis.

So strange to read this post, as literally just this week I noticed I had a bald spot on just my left eyebrow. I'm not too concerned, but I do want to make sure it doesn't get any worse. I'm going to bring it up to my doctor, but
I've just read these are some of the possible causes of eyebrow hair loss:
Alopecia Areata
Androgenic Alopecia
Anesthesia
Antibiotics or other medication
Autoimmune Disorders
Chemotherapy
Eczema
Fungal Infections
Hormone Imbalances
Lupus Erythematosus
Over Plucking!!
Parasites
Psoriasis
Seborrhea
Scleroderma
Thyroid Problems

Even I am losing eyebrow hair a lot. I was diagnosed with mono last year. I suffer from extreme fatigue since then. Also have noticed some bald patches...anyone with the exact same symptoms?

Hi! Losing eyebrow hair here too. I'm new here, and fairly new with my diagnosis, but it's been happening for a while and I just thought it was a 'getting old' thing.

So many weird and completely different symptoms!

I guess the best thing about finally getting a diagnosis is that it made so many different things make sense.

Anyway, about the eyebrows - I've tried several of the things that you can purchase that you put on the eyebrows at night, etc. None of them seemed to work for me. I've been using just plain old Castor Oil for a while now. Not sure if it is helping, or I am just so intensely hopeful, but I think it might be helping some. Seems like it will take a very long time to get them filled in again, if at all.

My mother lost her eyebrows when she had stress and thyroid problems 50 years ago they didn't grow back but she learned how to draw them on and they looked very nice.

Hopefully this won't come too late as this post is not new. Ask your doctor to run a complete thyroid panel. Some of your thyroid labs may come back fine in the early stages of hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Unfortunately, many people go years with the symptoms such as losing hair before the normally run labs actually indicate there is a problem. Have your ANA, Free T3 / Free T4, and TSH levels checked. If these were not done already. Many docs only check a basic function and miss this disease for months or years.

I am losing my eyebrows too. Mostly on the outer 1/3 but some sporatic spots too. My thyroid panel was normal. I am going to ask the doc to do thyroid antibody test (Thyroglobulin (TG) and Thyroid peroxidase (TPO)) next week next week. Hopefully those will give more insight.
