I am a 20 year old male and I have a deviated septum and a hole in my septum. I am thinking of getting it fixed. I also would like to make a few alterations to my noses appearance. I don't have a bump in the profile, but I have a very wide nose right beneath the eyes, then a somewhat bulbous round tip. I want to get my nose narrowed a little bit and have a bit of tip defenition. Here are my questions and I would GREATLY appreciate any kind of response! Would the surgery and after effects be painful and long lasting? Will my healing be visible to others? Thanks a lot for reading. Please respond!

How
I really don't know too much about plastic surgery but I want to encourage you. If you have your nose fixed, you will probably have more self-confidence. If it was me I'd have it done. Take care and stay in touch.

HI,
I have not had surgery on my nose but have had a facelift. There are excellant medications that aleviate post-surgical discomfort.
A Board Certified Plastic surgeon can answer your specific questions about your deviated septum, and the other areas you are concerned about.

im going in 2 weeks for a deviated septum repair, rhinoplasty which includes an open procedure with bump reduction, osteotomies, turbinate reduction, and tip reduction.becuase i opted for tip work it is best for an open procedure, this is where the PS makes a cut between your nostrils and lifts up your nose.if i was just going in for bump reduction the incisions would have been made inside the nose.if you have tip work done, swelling will last longer.i was just told on thursday that it takes a good year to see the results.as far as swelling it depends on a lot of things such as if you drink alcohol or not.as far as anethesia,im getting general along with something down my throat to help me breathe better.i started to look into this the beginning of this year to help me breathe better and to possibly stop my snoring.im tired of sleeping on the couch if you know what i mean.any other questions just ask

I'm planning to do similar in about a month but still agonizing over which doctor. Also still concerned about open, external stitches and general anesthesia, vs closed without general. On the one hand, I want it to be worth all the trouble but on the other a lighter touch probably means less risk of being unhappy with the result. From this message board alone it looks like there are lots of secondaries. If you're using a New York City doctor, do you mind saying who and how you chose them? I'm debating Pastorek and Tabbal. Thanks for any reply -- and let us know how it goes!!
