I have a constant hiss or high pitched whine it seems to be heard by both ears. Some days it is louder than other days but it is always there. I have done a little research on it and it can be caused by many things. I was curious how many others have it or something like it?

I had that problem years back when I was taking aspirin. After lowering the dose it went away.

Sounds like you have tinnitus. This can be temporary or permanent. There are approx. 40 million people with some form of tinnitus. You may want to visit the American Tinnitus Assoc. (www.ata.org). There is a lot of information on the internet. For a nice list of sites to visit go to www.looksmart.com (http://www.looksmart.com) and search on tinnitus. You may want to check out the newsgroup alt.support.tinnitus. My T is constant, loud but tolerable.

Good Luck - Lori

Yep, yer all right. It's tinnitus and it can last for a looooooong time, like mine. From what I gather in my research, it's from being exposed to loud noises on a constant basis. Mine was cannon and gunfire in Vietnam and then shooting ranges during the years before good quality hearing protection was used.

I'm trying to find out who to file a claim against for my hearing loss now.

Good luck....the Hammer

You may want to check out your tinnitus with an ENT doctor jus to be sure there is no physical problem causing your tinnitus. If nothing is found then go ahead and try what suggestions you can find to relieve/live with it.
