I had a cervical fusion [C5/6] 16 years ago at age 37. My legs are my problem . I never fully regained what was lost. I have balance and gait problems [I limp]. After many doctors and MRI's here I am with another cervical fusion in 2007 [now c4/5/6 ]. I am still having many issues, including gait /balance/weakness and pain in both legs. This year [2008] I have seen 2 neuro surgeons., both have said I need lower back surgery [ a misalignment in L4/5/6 ] In addition 1 surgeon ordered another MRI to see if I have more cervical issues as well as a thoracic problem . I am having a difficult time with this as I also have a phisically taxing job [steelmill] . That is my history . My question is after this many years can I hope to regain what I have lost? Do I have other options besides surgery? There are so many choices and alternatives besides surgery but they take so much time and may not help. What has worked for you? Is it feasible to ask for social security disability ?
OK enough , please help
