I've been seriously thinking about getting a Paragard, just a little scared of the pain since I haven't had any children. I was curious about how much it costs? I've heard anywhere from $250-$500... but I still think it would be worth it in the long run.

Hey guys, glad to hear that it went well for both of you. I've been seriously thinking about getting a Paragard, just a little scared of the pain since I haven't had any children. Also I was curious about how much it costs? I've heard anywhere from $250-$500... but I still think it would be worth it in the long run.
i dont have any kids either, and it wasnt that bad. I went in during my period tho, and they say that it hurts less then. Also i went to a dr. that volunteers at my local planned parenthood.
since i have no insurance now, they told me it would be no more than $300. But when I went in today, they told me i didnt have to pay anything. I was very surprised, since i dont have an extremely low income, but didnt argue. You should try there.. if you do pay, at least it will be less than most other places. And yes, you wont have to pay anything else for another 12 years. (xcept annual checkups)

I was fortunate to have insurance cover it minus the copay. I would have paid the full price though if that were the case. I was paying 50 a month for my birth control and condoms add up too. My bf took me to the appt and drove me home which was wonderful. I was so nervous and the first hour after I didn't feel too great. Feeling so happy now! I made the right choice.

It's SO worth it. I got mine in two months after giving birth and I had no pain. (Although it's supposed to be more comfortable if you've had a child). If you do decide, take some motrin or tylenol before going in.
My insurance also covered mine because I had medical assistance at the time since having the baby. Planned Parenthood is definitely a great place to go. I actually made an appointment just to talk about things and ended up doing it that day. I haven't had a problem since!
