Hello all
I am a 25 year old male. For the past 5 weeks I have been feeling quite unwell. It started off with a very mild dry sore throat. A few days later my lymph nodes on the side of my neck, under my thoat and behind my neck around shoulder region begin to painfully swell. I went to the doctors and he suspected Glandular fever (mono). The blood results returned which were negative for Mono, CMV but I had an extremely high strep ASOT titre of 626! where a healthy tirte should be less <200.
The Dr then prescribed a 10 day course of ant biotics (penacillan). 10 later I returned to the DR still feeling preety much the same. Furthur blood tests revealed that my titres dropped to 500. The Dr was satisified that the levels were dropping and was confident my immune system would fight the rest of the infection. However I wasnt happy with this diagnosis.
In about the third week I begin to experience migratory joint pain. However the pains werent inflammed and I could still walk easily enough. I also get a feeling of tightness in my left chest region. I now begin to experience a low grade fever and pain in my lymph nodes under my arm pits. This leads me to believe that the infection is now in my systemic circulation. I also get strange muscle t*****ing everywhere.
I decide to got too a new Dr to get a second oppinion. Furthur blood tests were ordered this time my titre levels crept back up to 576!. The Dr then prescribed a new anti biotic but still within the same class (amoxillcyillan). This Dr suspects rhuematic fever. I had scarlet fever as a child but do not remember ever been diagnosed with rhuematic fever. Currently the joint pain as subsided somewhat but Im still experience this constant low grade fever.
My question:
(1) those that have had or are experiencing rhuematic -fever when does the fever subside?
(2) also iv tried asprin and Nuerofen to try and ease the temp but it does not seem to be helpful.
please help me out!
