View Full Version : Atrial Fibulation

I am a 67-year-old male. I have had Atrial Fibulation (irregular heart beat some times as fast as 170 beats per minuite with me) for about 7 years.I always wear a sports heart monitor so I can tell if my heart is regular or in A.F. My brother my sister has it. My Dad also had it before he died so I suspect that it is hereditary. My intervals of A.F. used to be of a very short duration lasting less than 8 hours. The episodes accrued at about every 3 months. They have gotten a lot worse over the years with episodes with only about a week between them and I have two lately that lasted 4 days each. I was taking rythmol (225MG 3 times a day). After the last episode I've just started a regime of AMIODARONE (200mg) 4/11/01. It is to early yet to say how that will work for me. I have found that the smallest amounts of any drink with alcohol throws me into A.F and just to be safe I don’t drink coffee. I get on the treadmill every morning (when I am not in A.F.) and go 2 miles getting my heart up to around 110 I think this helps me. I have to build up my heart rate slowly and have found that quick over exertion also results in A.F. I would like to hear from any of you out there that have A.F and how you have delt with it. Is there things that you have done that you know of that will bring you out of A.F. Is there certain foods are drinks that you know of that causes it Thank You very much Mont H.
