Hi. My mom is deaf in one ear from a long ago injury. For the last 4 years she has been losing the hearing in her "good" ear for 4-6 weeks usually in May/June. Sometimes it slightly improves. She does not seem to suffer from allergies. Doctors always give her antibiotics which do not work. Any ideas either tradiotional or holistic would be appreciated. We think it may be due to pressure or a blockage in her inner ear. This is new for us. Thanks!!

Since it occurs yearly during the peak allergy season I would consider looking into this as a first approach. Have her see an allergist and get tested for allergies so that this can either be confirmed or eliminated as the cause of her problems. You might consider using a decongestant tablet too and see if this helps. I would go the route of allery testing first since she may not show any other signs of having allergies. I am assuming it is an ENT doc that gives her the antibiotics every year. What testing has he done on your mother to try to determine what is causing her problem? If she has not been seen by an ENT specialist then she needs to do that too.
