I have some pain and fullness in my ears, especially the left one. I already had tinnitus and sometimes benign positional vertigo so I am very concerned. I have been having this ear wax removed every 6 months for five years because it is so heavy and plugs the canal. The physician used a currette which he always does and I didn't feel any sudden pain or anything like that; I have no discharge from the ear at this time and wonder what the heck is going on-- If an eardum was perforated I imagine there is pretty bad pain immediately, right? any insight would help. Thanks

Do make another appointment with the ENT. It sounds to me that you may have mild eustachian tube dysfunction. From what I have been told, it usually goes away on it's own. Your ENT will make sure it is not something worse. In the meantime, avoid activities that involve sudden changes in pressure, like diving into a pool. This may irritate the eustachian tube. Also, any wax that is present can be forced up into the ear canal, resulting in further discomfort. Hopefully, this will only be a short term inconveniance to you.

Nathan: thanks for your input; I read your posts and hope you are feeling better. I feel very badly for you; having an ear ache and all those other popping noises, etc., has to be the most awful type of pain there is. It sounds like perhaps your problem is resolving. I sure hope so.
