My son just had his cholesterol levels tested. While his cholesterol was high, his triglyceride level was astronomical!! (783 - anything over 150 is considered high). He had a urinalysis and has ruled out diabetes. Could his medication (Adderall XR 15mg) be causing the problem?

Before you panic, you need to do this. Have his lipid profile repeated and be sure that he has been fasting when it is drawn. Checking a trigliceride level when he hasn't been fasting can give you whacko results.

I agree. It sounds like your son had a big breakfast of eggs and bacon just prior to the test. He needs to fast for what... I think at least 12 hours for proper results.

Now this is strange I've been on Adderall XR for about a year and my last cholestrol test indicated my trids were also very high. Gotta check this out.
