I just had a ureteroscopy last week and yesterday the stent was taken out. I have had such TERRIBLE pain and dr. said it would be bad for a day after stent was taken out. Today it is still terrible. Anyone tell me how long the pain lasts?? Angeline

I have found that it takes about 4 days for the pain to be ok. If you can stay home and take a hot shower whenever the pain is to bad this works great for relief, I am not sure why but it works, also I have found a heating pad well halp as well. Good luck hope you feel better soon.

Thanks so much for the reply and the info. I will try the shower and heating pad. The pain pills don't even work unless I take them more often. I fear the pain will never go away, but have to believe there is relief soon. Thanks again. Angeline

That was how it was for me too. The pain lasted several days. It felt like I had cramps constantly and the pain pills did not work that well. I found that a hot shower also helped because it helped relax the muscles around the ureter and gave me some relief.

I sure hope your pain goes away very soon.

Thanks Terry. I had a better day today. Yesterday my dr. told me to go to the ER as I couldn't control the pain and had trouble urinating. After several tests and a cat scan, he said it was spasms in the bladder from the stent being removed and it should get better each day. I only had one so far today, but it lasted about 2 hours. Hoping on day 4(tomorrow) I have none. Thanks again for the reply. Angeline

I just had ureteroscopy done last Thursday, so I know how you feel. I took out the stent yesterday, and it hurt so bad that I cried. The pain is unbearable for me, and like you said the pain pills don't work. Sometimes it feels like I'm about to wet my pants, and then when I get to the bathroom, I can't go or else it just trickles out! Amy
